Holiday Update
Hello Everyone!

Happy Holidays from Keith, Kristie, Patric, Alicja, Emma, Philip, Kendall, Karl, Wing Fai and Chris!

I would like to update everyone on a couple of things.

First of all, I have uploaded a pdf file to the website that is the new Tennis Club Associate phone directory. At the top of the home page, simply click on "10s Directory" and that will open a new page where you can click on "Tennis Associate Directory" and it will download to your computer at a pdf file. I will be uploading a phone directory for the residents that play tennis soon.

It has been a great frustration of mine that we have not had a new, updated directory for many months, and with all the new members, I am sure this was frustrating for you too. There will be a hard copy of the new directory available in January (God willing, as they say in the Middle East, which signifies, basically, "who knows when."). For now, use the pdf file. Thanks for your patience.

Holiday Pro Shop hours are as follows:

Saturday, 12/24, Christmas Eve, 8:30am-1pm
Sunday, 12/25, Christmas Day, Closed
Monday, 12/26, 8:30am-5pm, RESERVATIONS AS USUAL

Saturday, 12/31, New Year's Eve, 8:30am-1pm
Sunday, 1/1/06, New Year's Day, Closed
Monday, 1/2/06, 8:30am-5pm, RESERVATIONS AS USUAL

Weather permitting, we will hold the Ladies and Men's clinics on Tuesday and Thursday. Speaking of weather, enough. I mean, if it is going to rain, we would at least appreciate some snow in Tahoe, but it is raining everywhere. How boring.

On the home page of the website, we have added the MSNBC Local Weather for Orinda, with a link to a more in depth weather report. Hope that helps.

Keith will be here Monday through Friday next week. Patric will be taking 12/23-12/26 off, and 12/30-1/2 off (i.e., he will be here Tuesday-Thursday next week).

As many of you know, we had an emergency here last Friday. Bill Simpson continues to improve at this time, and we are all very thankful. He has been moved to a regular hospital room, and is out of intensive care. He has had phone contact with some of his tennis buddies, and is doing well, they report.

I did want to pass some information on to you concerning emergencies. First of all, given the choice between using a land line, and a cell phone to call 911, always use a land line. A land line connects you to a local dispatcher, while with a cell phone, as we found out, it is hard to get through, and you go to some dispatcher who is not local and must then connect you to the local dispatcher, a time using step. Fortunately, while a couple of us tried cell phones, Patric called on the land line, got through immediately and the response was very fast.

Having said that, there are local dispatcher numbers that you can program into your cell phone that are much better than 911 on the cell, but you have to have the number for the town you are in. Here are ones that would apply to us:

Lamorinda is 284-5010
Walnut Creek is 935-6400;
Pleasant Hill is 680-7000;
Concord 671-3333

We hope everyone has a safe, and wonderful Christmas, Hanukkah and holiday season. Hopefully that will include a bit of tennis, when this rain stops.
