Hi Everyone, 

I hope everyone is well and doing their best to stay safe. It is out of my great love for you, and for tennis, that I write the following in blessings and health: 

The Club is Closed. The Courts are Closed (locked). Effective tonight 3/20/20

Shelter in Place means that we need to distance ourselves from others and stay home. 

Tennis not an essential business or activity under Shelter in Place. Therefore, the Club is required to be closed, including the tennis courts and pool.  

Our understanding of Shelter in Place has evolved over the past few days, as it has been explained in more detail (mandate yesterday). Earlier in the week I recommended not playing, which most members have agreed with, but some believe tennis is a safe activity. 

We all have our own feelings about whether tennis is safe or not. That is no longer the deciding issue. Society, for the good of all, has closed clubs. 

We are a tennis club, tennis is our fundamental activity, and if the club is closed, tennis is closed. That is the law. 

I apologize that this was not as clear to me then, as it is now. Now we need to close. 

I hope we can start playing again soon. And I look forward to seeing you all on the courts at that time. Orindawoods is a wonderful club, a wonderful place, and a special place in all our lives.
